The texts

I’ve been thinking a lot about the discussion with Giacomo. I spent the past few days sitting with the idea of finding a single word that reflects where I am today; not the past, not the future I’m aiming for, but the phase I’m actively living in. What surfaced for me is the word:

Emergence.

It resonates because it captures the sense of becoming that I’m in right now: the ongoing process of shaping my own path, building the structures I want around me, and growing into the direction I’ve set for myself. It feels active and present, but also layered enough to reflect the complexity behind the choices and experiences we talked through.

More importantly, it feels open. It invites interpretation, visually and philosophically, in a way that aligns with The 11 project. It doesn’t frame my story as something already achieved or something being reclaimed, but as something forming with intention.

The photographer’s view

For Emergence, the first book of The 11 Collection created with Joseph Rutakangwa, this sensibility finds a precise resonance. Brunelli’s work reveals how an inner force becomes visible and operative. His contribution gives the inaugural volume a visual intensity that supports its ambition: to show how what drives a person begins to surface, take form and translate into action.
